Thank you Hume for your support
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has thanked the people of Hume for the strong vote of support – more than 54% of the primary vote - to return him as the local member.
While counting of postal and prepoll votes is yet to be finalised, Mr Taylor said he was very happy with such strong backing from his electorate.
“With counting where it is at the start of the week, in the bigger new booths I received more than 60% of the vote, in the smaller northern booths I received well over 70% of the vote.
“I’d also like to thank many of the communities in the older parts of my electorate. We did extraordinarily well in Goulburn and Crookwell, which is a particular pleasure for me, and in all the areas I've been representing for the past three years.
Mr Taylor said he was hopeful the Government would be returned for a further term.
“Federal elections are tightly fought contests and this one has been tightly fought. We don’t know the outcome but I’m hopeful.”
He pledged to continue fighting hard for the people of Hume.
“It is a privilege and a pleasure, and humbling to have this level of support. I will continue to fight for communities in Hume, and for the things I know so many local voters believe in - better opportunities for our businesses and their employees, better infrastructure and well targeted services.
“The vote I have received is a signal to me that people want me to continue working hard and engaging with them in the way I have been doing. I will be re-doubling those efforts across the electorate.”
Mr Taylor thanked 500 volunteers across Hume who had helped during the campaign.
