Statement on the proposed M9 Outer Sydney Orbital corridor
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has urged Cobbitty and district residents to make use of an extended public submission period on the proposed M9 corridor.

In an open letter to the community, Mr Taylor has acknowledged the community concern and is pushing for a change to the corridor route.
“Please know I am with the community on this.
I’ve implored the State Government to ensure your voices are heard and each individual submission is carefully considered. If people feel rushed into making a decision, or believe they haven’t been given a fair hearing, then I will call it out.
Investment in infrastructure like roads and rail is vital for a growing city, and investment in infrastructure should happen ahead of growth. But these projects must be in the right areas.
Much of the proposed Outer Sydney Corridor IS NOT in the right areas.
I believe the corridor will essentially destroy the village of Cobbitty. My thoughts are with Reverend Dave Barrie and his community …this cannot be allowed to happen.
The impacts on the areas around Brownlow Hill, Cawdor and through to Douglas Park will also be severe, particularly if excessive development is permitted. We can do better.
I’m working with Chris Patterson on what I think are do-able alternatives.
I believe there is scope to move sections of the Orbital away from those villages in the firing line. I’ve sought meetings with the University of Sydney to discuss possible alternatives.
