Safer Streets Round 2 deadline extended to 2 March

Friday, 12 February 2016

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed a two week extension of the application deadline for the Safer Streets programme.

Mr Taylor said Round 2 applications would be received until 2pm on Wednesday 2 March 2016.

“The closing date has been extended to ensure all councils and eligible not-for-profit organisations have the opportunity to apply,” he said.

“We’ve had some great Safer Streets outcomes in Hume in Round 1 – in Cootamundra, Harden, Goulburn and Yass. The Government will invest up to $29.4 million in Round 2 to help build community safety.”

Mr Taylor encouraged any interested councils and community groups to submit their applications as soon as possible.

“Importantly, the proceeds of crime - confiscated from criminals – are used to fund crime prevention projects like Safer Streets.”
