Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has repeated strong assurances from the Prime Minister that Medicare will not be privatised or sold.

“The Prime Minister made it very clear when he stated: ‘I am making a solemn, unequivocal commitment that every element of Medicare services will continue to be delivered by government. Medicare will never ever be privatised, Medicare will never be sold. Every element of Medicare services that is currently being delivered by government will continue to be delivered by government.’

Mr Taylor said the Labor Party had been running an extraordinarily dishonest scare campaign.

“They have been calling older Australians in the evening and frightening them, saying Medicare’s going to be sold off. I haven’t seen a scare campaign like this before; it is unethical and the Labor Party is desperate, that’s why they are lying to the Australian people.”
