Liberals Commit to CCTV Upgrades in Oran Park and Leppington - 14 April 2025
An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $19,000 towards security upgrades at two churches in the Hume electorate.
The commitment will deliver $10,000 for security cameras and lighting at Hope Anglican Church in Leppington and $9,000 for similar upgrades at New Life Anglican Church in Oran Park.
Federal Member for Hume, Angus Taylor, said everyone in our community deserves to feel safe and supported.
“Churches create a sense of belonging and connection and deserve to be places where faith can be practiced in safety,” Mr Taylor said.
“I’m only too happy to support projects such as these which make our community safer.”
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Shadow Minister for Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, said under a Dutton Liberal Government, Oran Park and Leppington will be stronger, more secure and better supported to tackle crime.
“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.
"Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting."
The revitalised SCF will deliver grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.
This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
