Goulburn wins $1million in Federal funding for new performing arts centre
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed an announcement of $1million in Federal funding to build a Goulburn District Performing Arts Centre. Mr Taylor said the grant had been approved under Round 2 of the Federal Government’s National Stronger Regions Fund programme.
“I am very excited about this project, which in total will be a four million dollar undertaking,” Mr Taylor said.
Transcript: “We know in Goulburn we desperately need a better performing arts space. This is our opportunity. The Federal Government has seen this as an important initiative for a fast growing and exciting region and that’s why we’re doing it. So I’m very proud to have been part of this, very excited that this is going to happen and I think this is an absolutely fantastic thing for Goulburn and the people of Goulburn. We’ve got a lot of work to do to make it happen, to bring it to fruition, you always do with these things, but that’s work I know we’re all up to.”
Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Geoff Kettle has thanked Angus on behalf of the community.
“I’m delighted to say that this is the second time Goulburn Mulwaree Council has received what it has asked for through the National Stronger Regions Fund, the first being the $10 million for the new wastewater treatment plant in Goulburn,” Cr Kettle said.
“On behalf of the council and the people of Goulburn Mulwaree, I’d like to thank Angus for his support and the work he and his office have put in to making this funding possible. We now look forward to working with him and the Federal Government to deliver an outstanding performing arts facility for the region.”
