Goulburn region Headspace a big step closer
Goulburn Headspace has taken a leap forward, with Grand Pacific Health named as the lead agency for the centre.
Grand Pacific Health’s (GPH) successful lead agency bid brings together a consortium of local supporting organisations and partners including Anglicare, Argyle Housing, Southern NSW Local Health District, TAFE NSW (Goulburn Campus), Max Employment, Richmond Fellowship ACT, The Disability Trust and Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor congratulated the GPH consortium and partners in Goulburn on Monday (16 May), saying it’s been a lot of hard work by a lot of people to get to this point.
“The role of the Headspace lead agency is to manage the centre’s operations by establishing and maintaining the facilities and employment of staff, to operate the centre and deliver the services and to ensure good corporate and clinical governance,” Mr Taylor said.
“I congratulate Grand Pacific Health which is an experienced organisation and has brought together a high level consortium of committed local partner organisations.
“When it opens in early 2017, the Goulburn region’s Headspace will provide drug and alcohol, mental health, youth and general health services. GPH will also offer housing support and Indigenous services.”
GPH currently operates Headspace centres in Nowra and Wollongong and will draw on its experience at these sites in establishing the Goulburn district centre.
Grand Pacific Health CEO Ron De Jongh confirmed GPH was already looking at potential sites for the Goulburn centre.
“We are absolutely delighted and deeply honoured to have been selected as the lead agency of such a strong local consortium,” he said.
“We are passionate about delivering mental health services and are excited to provide vital services to young people in the Goulburn area through this new headspace centre.
“We acknowledge the tremendous work done by so many over the past few years in making this happen.”
