Federal funding to improve McHenrys Creek Bridge
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced $419,000 in funding for Young Shire Council under Round Two of the Government’s Bridges Renewal Programme.
“I’m pleased to share the outstanding news the McHenrys Creek Bridge on Henry Lawson way will be widened and increased to a capacity of 68tonne as a result of the latest round of funding under the Bridges Renewal Programme,” Mr Taylor said.
“This is a terrific outcome for residents and primary producers along Henry Lawson Way, as this particular section of road has long been an issue for freight logistics throughout the shire.”
Mr Taylor said this latest funding commitment is on top of $535,000 committed to Young Shire under round one for replacement of the Burrangong Creek Bridge on Bribbaree Rd.
Mr Taylor said five other bridges in neighbouring local government areas would also be receiving Federal funding, totalling over $3.7 million of infrastructure investment for Hume under this latest round.
Other projects include;
- $478,000 toward the replacement of the Bennett Springs Road Bridge in the Boorowa Shire
- $425,000 for replacement of Blacks Bridge on Gambarra Rd, Greenethorpe in the Weddin Shire
- $723,000 for replacement of Dicks Creek Road Bridge at Nanima near Murrumbateman
