Crookwell Pool has $15,000 to splash around
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has congratulated Upper Lachlan Shire Council on successfully applying for $15,000 under the Stronger Communities Programme to help fix Crookwell Pool.
Mr Taylor joined Mayor John Shaw poolside this week to discuss the repair job which will extend the life of the facility and reduce water usage.
“The aim of the Stronger Communities Programme is to improve community participation through the funding of a small capital project,” Mr Taylor said.
“Upper Lachlan put forward a detailed application and a compelling case that will deliver a strong social benefit.
“I am pleased to announce that total funding of up to $15,000 has been approved under Round 1 of the Stronger Communities Programme, which will fund about a third of the total pool upgrade costs.”
In thanking Mr Taylor, Cr Shaw said the funding will ensure the pool remains viable for generations to come.
“Over recent years, we’ve averaged in excess of 11,000 visitors during a season, so we recognise that the pool is an important community facility,” Cr Shaw said.
“We will aim to begin the work in September/October this year, and have the pool reopen in time for the 2016/17 season, which begins in November.”
Federal funding grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 for small capital projects are available under Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Programme.
Mr Taylor said expressions of interest (EOI) were being received by his office until 5pm on Wednesday 9 March and should include a completed EOI form which could be found on: https://www.angustaylor.com.au/media/media-releases/calling-interest-str...
The programme is open to local councils and eligible, incorporated not for profit organisations who could match the funding, in cash or kind, on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis. Unsuccessful Round 1 applicants are welcome to re-apply in Round 2.
