Cowra Japanese Gardens listed on cultural register
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has congratulated the Cowra Japanese Gardens on its inclusion on the register of Australian Cultural Organisations.
Speaking at the Gardens earlier today, Mr Taylor paid tribute to the commitment of Gardens Director Don Kibbler in seeing the project to completion.
“Today’s announcement has been more than two years in the making. I acknowledge Don’s hard work and dedication,” Mr Taylor said.
“The Gardens are at the heart of Japanese cultural heritage in Australia and this listing is further recognition of that fact.
“Inclusion on the register comes with practical benefits – the Gardens may now receive tax deductible philanthropic donations, which will contribute to a more secure financial future for the centre.
Mr Taylor said he understood further infrastructure was planned for the Gardens and wished the community all the best in realising these plans.
