39 Hume community groups receive $145,000 in volunteer grants
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced that 39 local community organisations have been successful in securing funding under the Federal Government’s Volunteer Grants Program 2018. Mr Taylor thanked all volunteers for their dedication and generosity.
“Volunteering has such a strong presence in our communities,” Mr Taylor said.
“I met the wonderful Helen and Keith Evans who run the Camden Hospital Auxiliary which raises funds for extra equipment for the hospital and its patients.
“Helen and Keith, aged 74 and 81, have been sharing the role of Auxiliary president for the past 15 years. They are absolutely typical of the love-of-community that so many volunteers have.
“The $3,500 under the Volunteer Grants Program will purchase a new computer and printer for the Auxiliary to help produce professional material and to give the volunteers, many of whom are elderly Camden residents, a bit of a morale boost.”
Mr Taylor said successful organisations would receive grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to purchase small equipment items, contribute towards the cost of training courses and to help reimburse volunteers for fuel or transport costs.
