Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the condition of local roads was the number one issue raised across the electorate.
“This new Roads to Recovery funding for local councils is recognition of the need for further funding to improve road safety and efficiency,” Mr Taylor said.
“I’m also welcoming the funding boost to the Road Black Spot Program and I encourage motorists to nominate spots across Hume. It’s a direct way residents can alert local councils to high-risk areas.”
Mr Taylor said the Budget was increasing funding to the Road Black Spot Program by $550 million Australia-wide.
He said an additional $275 million would be allocated to the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program and an extra $275 million for the Bridges Renewal Program.
