A $14,300 boost for Thirlmere-Tahmoor Rugby League

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has congratulated Thirlmere-Tahmoor Rugby League Football Club on successfully applying for $14,300 under Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Programme.

The money will be used to provide a safe surface area for the pavilion building frontage.

Mr Taylor recently joined club officials and players at Thirlmere Sportsground to announce the funding.

“Thirlmere-Tahmoor Rugby League Football Club put forward a detailed application and a compelling case that will deliver a strong social benefit,” Mr Taylor said.

“With so many families in my electorate enjoying playing and supporting this great sport, I know this funding will help ensure the code continues to grow locally.”

President of the Thirlmere Sports Ground Management Committee Phil Carlyon said the funding will help with costs to upgrade the pavilion building frontage by replacing uneven earth with an all-weather surface asphalt pavement.

“This will provide the necessary safe surface pavement access for players, paramedics, game-day officials and the disabled, particularly those who use wheelchairs,” he said.

“I want to thank Angus for his work on this. The funding is a big boost to the club.

“The project will significantly enhance viability and improve safety for users of the pavilion building and access to and from the playing area.”

The aim of the Stronger Communities Programme is to improve community participation through the funding of a small capital project.

Federal funding grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 for small capital projects were available under Round 2 of the Stronger Communities Programme.
