1400 jobs filled in Hume in 10 months
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed news that 1400 jobs have been filled across Hume in the 10 months to May 2016.
According to the Federal Government’s Jobactive programme, many of the jobs were in the larger centres of Hume but smaller centres also filled positions, with 70 employed across the Upper Lachlan and Boorowa shires.
“These are impressive numbers. I am strongly encouraged by these local job placements,” Mr Taylor said.
“Anything we can do to encourage the growth of small business, because they’re the biggest employers in our regions, is always appreciated by the local community.
“And that’s what the Government is firmly focused on, investing in important infrastructure to grow jobs, supporting small business to grow jobs and backing innovation to grow jobs.
“We’ve seen a lot of investment, a lot of job creation, more building, more subdivisions, which is fantastic, right through this corridor from Sydney, through the tablelands, down the highway to Canberra.
“More investment in roads and telecommunications has been, and will continue to be, a real focus for me as the member for Hume. We’ve got substantial infrastructure projects happening in the bigger centres, we have important investment in capital projects in smaller centres.
“Infrastructure improvements are real priorities. There are a growing number of professionals in the district who work from home for a day or two a week and reliable telecommunications is critical, which is why it’s also a priority for me.”
