PM proud of Australia's household pain - Friday 24 January 2025
Astonishingly, the Prime Minister has this afternoon told reporters at the National Press Club that his biggest legacy as Prime Minister was “keeping Australia out of a recession.”
News flash Prime Minister – Australia has been in a household recession for seven consecutive quarters.
The Prime Minister is effectively saying his greatest achievement is losing control of migration, which is the only thing left driving the economy.
The truth is Labor’s economic management has delivered Australians the worst collapse in living standards on record.
Under the government’s own failing plan for our economy, Australians will not see a recovery in their standard of living until at least the end of the decade. That’s another two terms of parliament or six years Australians will be making up the ground lost under Labor.
Australia remains deep in a cost of living crisis under the Albanese Labor Government.
Core inflation is still well above the Reserve Bank’s target, the economy has come to a grinding halt, productivity is in free fall, GDP per capita has gone backwards for a record seven consecutive quarters and interest rates have risen 12 times since Labor was elected.
This means an Australian with a typical mortgage has spent more than $50,000 in additional interest since Labor was elected.
Australian families see through the spin and know the only thing the Prime Minister is responsible for is the dire state of the economy after almost three years of his leadership.
If the state of our economy is the Prime Minister’s greatest achievement, imagine what another three years of Labor will look like.
ENDS.
