IPART's decision in 'best interest' of community
Federal Member for Hume, Angus Taylor, believes IPART’s decision to scale back Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s proposed rate hike is in the best interest of the community.
"Even though the approved 22.5 per cent rate rise is still a big hit for ratepayers, I’m glad IPART didn’t go with the Council’s original proposal.
"The cost of living crisis is hitting everyone hard," Mr. Taylor said.
"Since Labor took over, inflation has risen 17%, making it tough for working families.
“Australians are feeling the pinch because they are genuinely poorer.
"From pensioners struggling to get by, to hardworking families trying to pay off their mortgages, and young people juggling debts while trying to buy their first home, there’s pain everywhere as I move around my electorate.
"These are tough times for everyone and ensuring fairness in rate increases is a step in the right direction.”
