Boost for jobs and road safety in Hilltops
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed over $500,000 in road safety funding for Hilltops Council thanks to a $1 billion joint infrastructure investment from the Australian and NSW Governments.
Mr Taylor said the funding injection would unlock thousands of jobs across NSW and give an immediate boost to the economy right when we need it.
“This funding is about delivering local road and infrastructure projects that can make a big difference to local communities – projects that will drive valuable jobs in our region over the next 12 months,” Mr Taylor said.
Projects to receive funding in Hilltops Council include:
• $244,242 for pavement rehabilitation at the intersection of Frogmore Road and Little Plains Road, Frogmore and the intersection of Frogmore Road and Ironbark Lane, Frogmore.
• $216,365 for pavement rehabilitation at the intersection of Grassy Creek Road and Little Plains Road and the intersection of Grassy Creek Road and Maryvale Road.
• $116,156 for reshaping and sealing of 1.2 km of road between Kenny’s Creek Road and Rye Park Road.
“Local infrastructure investment is critical for residents and business owners in Hilltops right now, as we recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.”
“Funding for road upgrades will mean more local construction jobs, new opportunities for businesses and it will provide Council with the funding to upgrade priority road projects in this area; to ensure people get to where they need to be sooner and safer.”
Projects will need to be delivered within two years of receiving funding, to ensure that local communities are benefitting sooner.
Round One will see $250 million invested in 258 projects across 83 Local Government Areas in NSW.
Applications for Round Two of the program will open later this year.
