$1.4 million boost for jobs and road safety in Upper Lachlan
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed over $1.4 million in road safety funding for Upper Lachlan Shire Council thanks to a $1 billion joint infrastructure investment from the Australian and NSW Governments.
Mr Taylor said the funding injection would unlock thousands of jobs across NSW and give an immediate boost to the economy right when we need it.
“This funding is about delivering local road and infrastructure projects that can make a big difference to local communities – projects that will drive valuable jobs in our region over the next 12 months,” Mr Taylor said.
Projects to receive funding in Upper Lachlan include:
• $1,485,900 for the reconstruction and sealing of Collector Road from the Hume Highway off- ramp at Gunning to Lucks Lane.
“Local infrastructure investment is critical for residents and business owners in Upper Lachlan right now, as we recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.”
“This road upgrade will mean more local construction jobs, new opportunities for businesses in the area and it will ensure people get to where they need to be sooner and safer.”
Projects will need to be delivered within two years of receiving funding, to ensure that local communities are benefitting sooner.
Round One will see $250 million invested in 258 projects across 83 Local Government Areas in NSW.
Applications for Round Two of the program will open later this year.
