Applications open for Road Safety Innovation Funding
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is encouraging any organisations in Hume with an interest in road safety research and development to apply for Round 1 of the Federal Government’s Road Safety Innovation Fund.
The $12 million program is now open to drive the future of road safety and innovation and technology.
“Improving road safety is something our entire community can contribute to and I encourage all organisations in the region with an interest in road safety innovation and technologies to apply for funding,” Mr Taylor said.
“Road crashes have an enormous impact on our local communities, but particularly the families and friends of the victims.”
“Innovation and technology are key tools that can help reduce the number of road crashes by ensuring road safety becomes ‘business as usual’ for all road users here in Hume.”
“One death or one crash on our roads is one too many and this fund is designed to target innovative projects to improve road safety in regional areas.”
Successful projects under Round 1 will be announced in coming months and projects will be able to get underway soon after. Two million dollars will be made available to fund projects under the first round of the program over the next four years.
The first round of applications close 18 May 2020 and will be assessed through an open competitive process.
