Six new mobile base stations for Hume
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced six new locations in Hume will receive boosted mobile phone coverage.
Under Round 5 of the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program, a small cell base station will be installed at the following locations in Hume:
- Goodman’s Ford (Telstra)
- Lakesland (Optus)
- New Wollondilly (Telstra)
- Werombi (Optus)
- Wombeyan Caves (Optus)
- Yerranderie (Telstra)
Mr Taylor said this was great news once again for Hume, already to date 24 base stations have been funded under the program, with 13 now complete.
“I’m thrilled that residents and businesses in these locations will soon be able to enjoy all the benefits that improved mobile connectivity brings,” Mr Taylor said.
“Now more than ever it is crucial we stay connected and these base stations will ensure that residents living within these areas or those travelling through can make phone calls and use mobile data.”
The announcement of 182 successful Round 5 base stations means a total of 1,229 base stations are being delivered under the Federal Coalition’s Mobile Black Spot Program.
Mr Taylor said small cell base stations would typically deliver 4G mobile coverage across an area of a couple of kilometres.
Round 5 base stations are expected to roll out over the coming months.
Round 4 base stations announced last year including Bungonia, Reids Flat, Tuena, Wayo and Wombeyan Caves Campground will all be completed by mid 2020. A new base station at Frogmore was switched on earlier this month.
