Frogmore residents to receive mobile coverage

Monday, 06 April 2020

Frogmore residents will now have better phone service to make calls, browse the internet and stay connected with family and friends.

The new mobile base station at Frogmore, funded under the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program, was turned on recently and will significantly improve phone service in the village.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said he was delighted to be switching on another new base station in Hume.

“As we all know connectivity is crucial and I’m pleased Frogmore residents will now experience better mobile coverage,” Mr Taylor said.

“Mobile coverage in this area has been an issue for many years and during my time as local member I have advocated strongly for improved coverage for rural communities, like Frogmore.”

“There will now be a strong Telstra 4G signal in the village for mobile calls and data use.”

An additional $160 million in new funding for rounds five and six of the program was announced in 2019 to continue to improve phone service for people in Australia’s regions.

Mr Taylor said he has been pushing for mobile service improvements for a number of Hume communities under Round 5.

The outcomes of Round 5 of The Mobile Black Spot Program will be announced later this month.
