Two hundred Australian businesses are now accredited Australian Trusted Traders, unlocking a suite of benefits that make it easier to trade on the world stage.

Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security Angus Taylor will today welcome York Foods, a natural food manufacturer located in Goulburn, as the program’s 200th member.

“Australian Trusted Trader is estimated to be worth $3.2 billion to Australian industry over the next ten years and I am delighted to welcome York Foods – an innovative, world-class small business – to the program,” Minister Taylor said.

“It shows that regardless of size, any eligible business that can demonstrate its supply chain security and trade compliance can become a Trusted Trader and access a growing range of benefits, saving time and money.”

York Foods is a small family-owned business that has manufactured and packaged locally sourced, speciality animal origin cooking oils and niche food products since 1935.

York Foods CEO Ted Philpott said they were excited to be able to access benefits including reduced red tape, priority trade services and benefits from the Mutual Recognition Arrangements with a number of countries.

“We already export to Germany, Singapore, and the EU and the benefits of Australian Trusted Trader will help us further grow our business and increase our ability to sell our products overseas,” Mr Philpott said.

“Becoming a Trusted Trader shows our customers that we are a company that is serious about international trade and keeping our products and supply chains secure.

“Applying was relatively simple and allowed us to strengthen our practices with incredible support from our Australian Border Force (ABF) account manager.”

York Foods joins Australian businesses such as Bunnings and Myer, and international companies including Apple, Ikea, and Louis Vuitton who are already accredited Trusted Traders.

“Australian Trusted Trader is keeping Australia’s border secure and members play an important role in ensuring international supply chain security,” Minister Taylor said.

“This allows the ABF to focus resources on traders that present a higher risk to the Australian community.

“In return, Australian Trusted Trader gives Australian importers and exporters a competitive edge and greater access to global markets. I encourage all Australian businesses to apply to become a Trusted Trader today.”
