TAX RELIEF: 68,888 taxpayers in Hume stand to benefit from the low and middle income tax relief.

• A high school teacher on $75,000 in Hume will have an extra $530 in their pocket from the Budget year onwards, with an extra $3,740 in their pocket over the first seven years of the tax plan.
• A workshop manager on $88,000 in Hume will have an extra $575 in their pocket from the Budget year onwards, with an extra $4,055 in their pocket over the first seven years of the tax plan.
• A shop assistant on $45,000 in Hume will have an extra $440 in their pocket from the Budget year onwards, with an extra $3,380 in their pocket over the first seven years of the tax plan as the tax relief increases.

BETTER CHILD CARE:  On 2 July, our new child care system will come into place, with 6,661 local families in Hume standing to benefit from our reforms. We are making child care more accessible and affordable - providing the greatest level of assistance for those that need it most.

BACKING BUSINESS AND JOBS: We have delivered small and medium business tax cuts – benefiting the 16,090 local businesses in Hume – with turnovers up to $50 million if they are incorporated, and up to $5 million if they are unincorporated.

EXTENDING THE INSTANT ASSET WRITE OFF FOR SMALL BUSINESS: This Budget extends the popular instant asset write off for small businesses for a further twelve months. Small businesses with turnovers up to $10 million can benefit from writing off assets costing less than $20,000. Well over a thousand local businesses in Hume have used this popular small business incentive that has now been extended.

BOOSTING INFRASTRUCTURE: Billions of dollars of the Government’s $75 billion infrastructure investment is happening in Hume and this is also driving business and jobs growth. On top of the $3.62 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan, the Budget includes

• the $50 million commitment to the Appin Road upgrade ($5m for 2018/19);

• a $50 million commitment to jointly fund a business case for the Western Sydney North-South rail project with New South Wales Government, and,
• $100 million in additional funding for the Barton Highway corridor.

Key funding programs have been extended to support regional infrastructure:

• an additional $200 million third round of funding for the Building Better Regions Fund ($1.25 million for the Rocky Hill Museum Extension and Precinct Upgrades under Round 1 confirmed);
• $22.5 million for a fourth round of the Stronger Communities Programme ($436,543 has been allocated to more than 40 Hume projects under the previous three rounds);
• Almost $6.1 million in Roads To Recovery funding will be allocated to seven Hume councils for 2018/19.

FULLY FUNDED HOSPITALS PLAN: We are fully funding a new five year hospital agreement with the states and territories on top of record funding for health. The National Health Agreement from 2020-21 to 2024-25, will deliver record hospital funding in each and every year, providing millions of additional hospital services for patients across Australia.

SUPPORTING OLDER AUSTRALIANS STAY IN THEIR HOMES: We are supporting the 23,567 people aged over 65 and their families in the electorate of Hume to live longer, happier and healthier lives. We are helping older Australians stay in their own home for longer through more high level home care packages. In this Budget we are funding more than 14,000 additional places - adding to the 6,000 extra places already released in MYEFO - bringing the total of additional in home places funded since last Budget to 20,000.

FULLY FUNDING THE NDIS: This budget guarantees the funding of the National Disability and Insurance Scheme.   Australians with a permanent and significant disability deserve the best care we can provide. Once fully rolled out, the NDIS will directly help an estimated 3,694 people and their families in the electorate of Hume.

FAIR FUNDING FOR SCHOOLS: We are delivering real money for our schools to deliver better results for our children. This is delivering on the needs based funding model recommended by David Gonski. Government and Independent Schools funding in the electorate of Hume increases substantially, with funding rising by $35.3 million comparing this school year to the 2027 school year.

The Catholic school system across Australia also receives significant funding increases - funding growth for Catholic schools will be $2.93 billion from now until 2027 – a growth of 46.3%.

FUNDING FOR PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN: Children of pre-school age across Australia will benefit from a multi-million dollar preschool funding boost. We are ensuring that 2,453 children in Hume can access 15 hours of quality early learning in the year before school.
