NBN connecting 21,624 premises in Camden area
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says thousands of homes and businesses across the Camden and Narellan area will soon have access to fast and reliable broadband on the nbn network.
More than 21,600 homes and businesses from Camden to Cobbitty, Harrington Park to Mount Annan are expected to be ready to connect to the nbn network by the end of April 2017.
“The first areas have already gone live, with 2259 premises in Currans Hill, parts of Smeaton Grange and Catherine Field able to connect today,” Mr Taylor said.
“Switch-on for the remaining 19,365 premises are expected by the end of April.
“This includes homes and businesses in Camden, Elderslie, Camden South, Mount Annan, Narellan Vale, Smeaton Grange, Camden Park, Harrington Park, Ellis Lane, Kirkham and Cobbitty.
“This week I inspected a node in Holdsworth Drive, Narellan Vale, with nbn crews to view the progress.
“Every day my office is contacted by residents wanting fast and reliable broadband, and I am pleased to say the work is progressing to schedule, with crews moving through the area and completing the build.
“To view the coverage maps, and be notified when your home or business is ready for service, I’d encourage people to visit nbn’s website here http://www.nbnco.com.au/learn-about-the-nbn/rollout-map.html.”
As at 25 November 2016, there were 30,587 homes and businesses ready for service in Hume (including Tahmoor, Appin and Goulburn) and of these, 7462 had an active nbn connection across the fixed line, fixed wireless and satellite technologies.
“Under the Coalition, the nbn is connecting more active users every month than Labor connected during its entire time in Government (close to 100,000 new active services over the past month, compared to 51,000 at the time of the 2013 election),” Mr Taylor said.
“Today, nearly two thirds of all premises are in design, under construction or ready for service and 70 per cent of premises covered by the nbn today are in regional and non-metro areas.”
