Flood disaster relief funding for Upper Lachlan
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed disaster relief funding that will be provided to the Upper Lachlan Shire Council after the July storms and flooding.
The assistance is provided under joint Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) announced today by Federal Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant.
“Areas in the Upper Lachlan have experienced high rainfall over the past few months, particularly in July, with storms and flooding causing major damage to properties, roads and public infrastructure,” Mr Taylor said.
He said the funding would go towards assisting the council with the clean-up and to repair its damaged road network and associated infrastructure.
And for those eligible, assistance will be provided to residents whose homes were damaged and concessional loans made available for small businesses and primary producers.
“I know this is going to be much needed support for the Council and will benefit the whole community,” Mr Taylor said.
