Goulburn businesses on the move
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says the expansion of local businesses is proof the Coalition's infrastructure and small business focus is delivering for the local economy.
Development of the old Ranger Geale site into the ‘Hume Lifestyle Precinct’ is among a broader redevelopment of the busy Hume street area where Goulburn's famous Big Merino now overlooks assorted cafes and specialty stores.
"There is a great buzz in the Goulburn business community at the moment," Mr Taylor said. "To see local businesses growing and employing more staff is a sure sign of the strength of the local business sector."
One of the new Hume Lifestyle Precinct’s tenants, Colette McGregor, of JSF Interiors is expanding her business and plans to take on more staff. “I think it is time to make the transition, to take advantage of the location and the assistance the Federal Government is giving to small business such as the Accelerated Depreciation (immediate deduction for all individual assets costing less than $20,000),” she said.
She will be hiring a casual staff member and another full time employee in the coming weeks.
Owner and developer of the site, Rohan Geale, said local businesses were taking the chance to expand and capitalise in the busy and prominent location, and in doing so were also putting on new staff and offering more products.
“It’s been a hive of activity here the past few months,” he said. “Four of the new tenants are actually existing Goulburn businesses making the next step to grow, with a move to bigger premises and more staff.”
Joining JSF Interiors at Hume Lifestyle Precinct by the end of May are Goulburn Roller Doors, Goulburn Water Systems Irrigear and Swiftwood Tiles.
