The Oaks Junior Rugby League receives $18,000 from Stronger Communities
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has congratulated The Oaks Junior Rugby League Football Club on successfully applying for $18,214 under the Stronger Communities Programme to replace fencing at Dudley Chesham Oval at The Oaks.
Mr Taylor joined the junior players and spectators at Dudley Chesham Oval during a recent game day to announce the funding.
“The aim of the Stronger Communities Programme is to improve community participation through the funding of a small capital project,” Mr Taylor said.
“The Tigers Junior Rugby League Football Club put forward a detailed application and a compelling case that will deliver a strong social benefit.
“I am pleased to announce that total funding of up to $18,214 has been approved under Round 1 of the Stronger Communities Programme, which will fund about half of the total fencing upgrade costs.
“This is a strong example of the Government investing in local community infrastructure.”
The Oaks Tigers JRLFC president Brent Kelly welcomed the support.
“We would like to thank Angus Taylor for this funding allocation,” he said.
“Dudley Chesham Oval is currently used by many community groups including the schools and other sporting groups.
“The new fencing will keep the fields free from pets and animals, will prevent the balls from being kicked into the creek and it will look great.
“This project is the first of many planned projects for the precinct to give the community a much needed boost in infrastructure.”
