WOW Wear Orange Wednesday - in Goulburn
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor celebrated WOW ‘Wear Orange Wednesday’ Day today, thanking local SES volunteers for their community spirit.
“Most of us know a neighbour or friend who volunteers for the SES. At times of need, we know we can rely on them to drop what they’re doing and come to the rescue.
“SES volunteers play a critical role in our towns and villages. Where would we be without those fantastic people who give their time and effort for free? Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our local communities,” Mr Taylor said.
Schools, shops, towns and workplaces across NSW have decorated in the colour orange to show their support for SES volunteers.
This is one of many activities underway in National Volunteer Week (9 – 15 May).
According to the latest census, 24,000 people in Hume do some form of voluntary work for an organisation or group.
