Crookwell TV transmitter switched on
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has checked out the TV reception in Crookwell after the new transmitter was switched on this week.
Visiting Gael Johns’ home in Willis Street on Friday, Mr Taylor said the reception on WIN, Prime, Southern Cross Ten and SBS was great.
“For elderly people in particular, who rely on the TV for information, and often for company, being able to deliver clear TV reception is a huge achievement. It’s a terrific thing to see the benefits this will bring to residents,” Mr Taylor said.
Mrs Johns said she had no computer or internet and was used to relying on the TV.
“This is really, really good. I like the sport on the commercial channels and it will be lovely to watch the football again. I’m looking forward to the footy,” she said.
Spokesperson for the commercial TV networks, RBAH (Regional Broadcasting Australia Holdings) Chair Shirley Brown said the switch on had gone well.
“This is a terrific outcome for Crookwell. Again I’d like to thank Angus for the role he has played in securing funding for the transmitter and brokering this with the networks, government and with council. I know residents will be enjoying the results in coming days.”
Mr Taylor said his office had been in regular contact with local TV antenna installers who had also reported a smooth switch on.
“There have been some homes where a re-tune has been necessary, but if you have any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact Hudson (0429 446 653) or Phil (0409 221 962).
“While we didn’t have it quite ready for the tennis final, it’s all set up now for the football season. Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work,” he said.
