“We did very well under Round 1, securing funding for 18 new or upgraded mobile base stations, which will provide mobile coverage to more than 70 local areas that were nominated as blackspots. These towers will be built in the coming 18 months.

“There are still many locations that have poor mobile reception and the Federal Government wants to fix as many as it can,” Mr Taylor said.

Mr Taylor said under Round 1 new mobile phone towers had been approved for Binalong, Buxton, Werombi, Dalton, Darbys Falls, Golspie, Mayfield, Mount Hunter, Murringo, Nattai, Tarlo, Windellema, Billimaria, Cultowa, Gooloogong, Koorawatha, Noonbinna, and Woodstock.

Nominations for Round 2 of the Programme can be made online at www.communications.gov.au/blackspots or emailed to Angus Taylor’s office at angus.taylor.mp@aph.gov.au
