Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor was amongst the action at the Boorowa Touch Football/Netball Carnival last week. “Usually people notice when I wear a netball bib. But not at Boorowa last Friday.

"I was just one of thousands in sporting colours at the Combined Primary Schools Touch Football/Netball Carnival.

“Organisers told me more than 4000 kids – and at least 2000 supporters – from southern NSW and ACT were at the event, now in its 70th year."

Mr Taylor said the showground was teaming with colour and activity - 390 teams represented 47 schools playing round-robin touch football and netball games.

“I counted at least 15 coaches in the parking area and paddocks of cars. The beauty of this tournament is that there are no trophies or pressure from the sidelines. The aim of the game isn’t winning. It’s about fun, fitness and involvement.

“It was a delight to meet many of the kids. I especially enjoyed watching the composite touch footy team from Rye Park, Rugby and Wee Jasper go about its paces.

“The event’s enduring success and growth is a tribute to the hardworking members of the organising committee and the local council,” Mr Taylor said.
