Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced Federal funding for an expansion of Wollondilly Anglican College. Mr Taylor congratulated the College community on its successful application for $800,000 under the Federal Capital Grants Programme.

“This is a great funding commitment for a very worthy project – the expansion of Wollondilly Anglican College to create a variety of new areas for the benefit of the entire College population – students and teachers. I understand plans are well underway for the building works to be carried out in 2015,” he said.

Showing Mr Taylor around the grounds, College Headmaster, Dr Stuart Quarmby, thanked the Federal Government for its support and said the new facilities would open up many more opportunities for students. “Our continued rapid growth has marked the College as one of the fastest growing independent schools in the state. The new fully air conditioned facility will house English classrooms around a central information resource centre, catering for accelerated learners as well as for those who find literacy skills more of a challenge. Our vision is for educating families together."

Mr Taylor congratulated the College community on broadening the choices for students. “I understand there are four new general purpose learning areas being planned, a seminar room, resource centre, staffroom and storage rooms, as well as pedestrian walkways and verandas for students, a ramp for disabled access - and all in a huge two-storey building.”

He said the Federal funding announced was in addition to two million dollars in non-Commonwealth funding already raised. “I know this is an exciting time for the College and the Tahmoor/ Wollondilly community.”
