Register now for Stronger Communities funding

Wednesday, 02 September 2015

Community groups across Hume are being encouraged to apply for Federal funding grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 for small capital projects.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said expressions of interest were being received by his office until Thursday 17 September and should include a completed project proposal form which could be found on his website. (Please click here to download the Project Proposal Form)

“This is a brand new funding opportunity called the Stronger Communities Programme, announced in the last Budget. I’m pretty excited about how many different projects we will be able to assist, with $150,000 committed for each electorate per year, for two years.”

Mr Taylor said the programme was open to incorporated organisations and councils who could match the funding, in cash or kind, on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

“I’m aware of a number of different projects being planned across the Goulburn area and there’s still plenty of time for groups to be in touch and register their interest,” he said.

“I will be working closely with a community consultation committee and we’re especially keen on projects that deliver a strong social benefit, such as projects by sporting and recreation clubs, service clubs and other not for profit organisations.

“I encourage any and all potential applicants to get in touch soon with my Goulburn office on 02 4822 2277 to discuss ideas which meet the eligibility criteria.”

Expressions of interest received by Thursday 17 September will be considered by the Hume Stronger Communities Programme Community Consultative Committee. Applications will be assessed against programme guidelines outlined by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development to ensure that approved projects represent value for money.

Applicants are encouraged to read the Stronger Communities Programme guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions which are available on the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development’s website http://investment.infrastructure.gov.au/funding/scp/

A second round of the Stronger Communities Programme will commence early in 2016.
