Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is encouraging local government and environmental groups in the Upper Lachlan Shire to find out more about the Green Army ahead of the fourth round opening soon.

“In the Crookwell area, Green Army teams are already working hard on a number of revegetation and land improvement projects,” Mr Taylor said.

“Information sessions are running throughout August across Australia. They are an opportunity to think about how organisations can apply for a Green Army project and how young people can participate. I encourage anyone interested in the Upper Lachlan area to find out more.”

Mr Taylor said the Federal Government had budgeted more than $700 million over four years to rollout Green Army projects.

He said Round Four would comprise two streams. Stream 1 will focus on heritage projects that promote, protect and conserve Australia’s national and world heritage which are listed for their natural, historic or indigenous values. Stream 2 will focus on projects that directly support the protection and recovery of threatened species, particularly improving habitat.

Information sessions for potential project hosts and sponsors will be held in:

-  Sydney on 5 August at the Mercure Hotel from 3pm to 5pm

-  Orange on 6 August at the Orange Ex-Services Club from 10am to midday and

-  Canberra on 7 August at the National Portrait Gallery from 10am to midday.

An information session for project participants will be held in:

-  Sydney on 5 August at the Bankstown Bryan Brown Theatre from 10am to midday.
