Disaster assistance extended to Goulburn Mulwaree and Upper Lachlan
Disaster assistance has been extended to include Goulburn Mulwaree and Upper Lachlan local government areas, to help people and business heavily impacted by the recent storms and flooding.
Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said assistance for farmers and small businesses is being provided through the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
“The recent storms and flash flooding has resulted in widespread damage to roads, infrastructure, businesses and residential properties,” Mr Taylor said.
“This extension will now include Goulburn Mulwaree and Upper Lachlan, after disaster assistance was activated in Wollondilly and Wingecarribee local government areas immediately after the storms.”
“A range of measures are now in place to support Goulburn Mulwaree and Upper Lachlan residents, business owners and local councils with the recovery.”
Assistance available under the DRFA may include:
- help for eligible people whose homes or belongings have been damaged
- support for affected local councils to help with the costs of cleaning up and restoring damaged essential public assets
- concessional interest rate loans for small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations
- freight subsidies for primary producers, and
- grants to eligible non-profit organisations
