Calling for Green Army helpers in Wollondilly
The Green Army is looking for enthusiastic 17 to 24 year olds to help out on a second Green Army project in Wollondilly Shire.
“Young people who want to gain valuable skills, training and experience in environmental and conservation fields are encouraged to register their interest,” Mr Taylor said.
In conjunction with Tharawal Local Aboriginal Lands Council, restoration of the Couridjah area near Buxton and the building of a bush tucker garden will be the next Wollondilly project, following revegetation along Picton’s Stonequarry Creek.
“Green Army participants undergo accredited training and receive an allowance for the duration of the project. Participants are supported to obtain Certificate I or II qualifications or nationally endorsed skills to help them prepare for the workforce or improve their career opportunities,” Mr Taylor said.
“Already in half a dozen other projects across Hume we have seen a great turnout of young people, interested in learning new skills, and some solid work done on worthy community projects,” he said.
