Angus catches new Greyhound bus to work in Canberra

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said a new daily bus from Goulburn to Canberra was a ‘fantastic’ service, allowing him to sit back and work, with free wifi all the way.

Mr Taylor caught the first of Greyhound’s new daily commuter runs, departing Goulburn’s Big Merino at 7am and arriving in Canberra at 8.15am. A return service departs Canberra at 5.30pm.

“What a fantastic service for Goulburn. Wifi all the way and only $15 for the return trip. I got quite a lot of reading done and we arrived five minutes early.”

Goulburn resident Jacqualine Canty who works at the ANU (Australian National University) said she’d be catching the bus as often as possible. Ms Canty caught the first ride to Canberra today.

“It will save me so much money in car costs – wear and tear, parking, petrol, it all adds up,” she said.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr who, together with Goulburn Mulwaree Mayor Geoff Kettle, welcomed the bus into Canberra’s Jolimont Centre in Civic, expects the service to be very popular.

“This is a great initiative improving connectivity between the ACT and surrounding region. There are so many commuters from Goulburn into Canberra who will benefit from this. Congratulations to Greyhound and to Geoff and Angus for advocating on behalf of this great service.”

Mayor Geoff Kettle urged Goulburn residents to jump on board.

“We’ve tried to do this in the past and it hasn’t come off, so I was really delighted when Greyhound agreed to take this on. It’s now up to Goulburn commuters to support the service, with 50 seats available each way, very convenient connection times and locations and you just can’t beat the introductory price of $15. Come on Goulburn, jump on board!”
